I led a six-person team to build CloudHacks from scratch: a two-day student hackathon with around 150 signups. I handled most of our sponsor outreach and negotiations, securing over $10,000 in combined funding, in-kind perks, and services.

I also coordinated the judges, while our team brought together logistics, finances, artwork, and photography. Much of my work happened before anyone arrived: explaining an idea clearly enough that others wanted to help make it real.

Through the Vung Scholarship, a YouTuber-run fund for community projects, I secured US$1,000 for the Ngoc An Center for Special Education. I led a project supporting the development of sensory intervention rooms across its centres in Vietnam.

I purchased equipment with the funding and discussed the plans with the CEO. Beyond raising the money, I helped work out what it would pay for and how those purchases could support the spaces being developed for the children.

Through Safe and Smart, I gave cybersecurity talks to students at Newton Grammar School, both in person and online. I also helped reach schools in other provinces through online sessions and brochures.

We explored digital safety in the age of AI, including how deepfakes can make misleading content feel convincing. I wanted to bring a complicated subject into an everyday conversation: when something looks or sounds real, how do we decide whether to trust it?

I started rowing around the transition from Grade 10 to Grade 11, after enjoying kayaking on a school expedition to Thailand through SJI International’s NYAA programme.

Since then, I’ve kept rowing as a casual pastime and joined dragon boating at the Lotus Festival in 2025 and 2026. I do it simply because I enjoy being on the water. The expedition introduced me to that feeling; rowing gave me a way to keep it in my life.
